Straßengestaltung Algund

Straßengestaltung Algund

As part of the renewal of the infrastructure of Josef-Weingartner-Straße, the municipality of Algund also planned a redesign of the surface with the goal of creating a safe and attractive solution for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists. Three design aspects were to be considered:

1. **Separation between the roadway and the bicycle path:**
In the first phase, various options such as gabion baskets and concrete planters were considered. Ultimately, a visible stone wall with permanent lichen planting was chosen.

2. **Pergolas:**
Twelve pergolas were constructed from interconnected reinforcement bars, intended to serve as trellises for newly planted grapevines. These pergolas structure the long street and provide shade for pedestrians in the summer.

3. **Wiesenhof bus stop:**
The bus stop was originally planned as a sort of landmark for the municipality of Algund, to be designed from rough and polished precast concrete elements combined with wooden fittings as furniture. However, the implementation of this idea is not yet complete.

These measures demonstrate the municipality’s efforts to make Josef-Weingartner-Straße not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing, turning it into a safe and attractive space for various road users.
